| About the College: |
MTM College of Education was founded and created under the aegis of MTM EDUCATIONAL SOCIETY in the year 2001, with the objective of attaining excellence in the academic field and for providing a level platform to teachers of future for imparting quality education to the future generations. The College is affiliated with UNIVERSITY OF KASHMIR under No. 3762-B/2001; it is registered with Registrar of Societies J & K State under Registration No. 1307-RS/533.The College, since its inception has all along aimed to equip the teachers of future with the latest Methodology and Techniques in the art of teaching. The College has been providing an opportunity to the students of rural areas for higher education, who could not otherwise afford to get admission elsewhere The College has engaged qualified and experienced teachers to teach the different core and optional subjects and the results, so far, have been gratifying. The performance has attracted students from other states like Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan etc.The aim in setting up the College is to provide quality education to both male and female students and the Management is satisfied with the dedicated work of all the functionaries who have been working incessantly to attain the target. LOCATION: Located on the foothills of Afarwat the College is situated on the left side of Srinagar- Gulmarg road, barely six kilometers below World Famous Tourist Place – Gulmarg.The College has one two storey building comprising of 10 rooms, five halls and a common recreation hall and another one storey building with two rooms and three lecture halls. Sufficient compound measuring 8 kanals 13 marlas of land. All rooms/halls are ventilated and fully equipped with furniture/furnishing. A new building having an area of 32 kanals is under construction at Ziran (Tangmarg) |

College has a rich Library with about 6000 books,1500 references,1000 issues of
leading magazines,journals.Newspapers in English, Hindi and Urdu (both local and
National) are daily available in the College. Back files of journals/magazines
and newspapers are also available for the students. |

Scientifically
fixed Laboratory with equipments, apparatus, chemicals, charts, diagrams,
specimens, glass ware, microscopes etc.Besides skeleton and models are designed
to view a true laboratory for the students. |

| Hostel Facility: |
The Down Hill Boys Hostel is situated on right side Tangmarg-Gulmarg Highway, surrounded by picturesque scenery presented by Blue Pine Forest in the background, snow peaked high mountains and over looking the far stretched areas of greenery, gushing down Ferozpor Nallah and nestled hamlets. The Hostel has 18 spacious and properly ventilated rooms and a recreation room equipped with items of entertainment. Foods of all kinks (Punjabi, Rajisthani, and Kashmiri etc.) are provided to students according to their choice.
2. GIRLS HOSTEL The Girls Hostel is situated at Treran .The Hostel is fully equipped with furniture, furnishing, telephone and other necessary facilities. It has a recreation hall equipped with items of entertainment. Discipline in the Hostel is maintained strictly. No male member is allowed to visit the hostel except under compelling circumstances and that also with the permission of the Principal and the concerned Warden. All types of Northern & Southern foods are provided according to the choice of the students. |
| Medical Facility: |
Medical facilities are available both at College and Hostels. One Medical Assistant and a Nurse are at beck & call for 24 hours. Medical facilities are also available at Sub Distt. Hospital Tangmarg, adjacent to the College and Hostels. |

Climate & Temperature:
|
It is warm and pleasant from March to November with Temperatures varying from 15°C to 35°C during day and 20°C to 5°C during night. Generally, students need a sleeveless sweater in addition to light cotton clothing during these months. The winters are very cold and the day temperature veers between 15°C and 10°C during day and it is 5°C to - 4°C during nights. The coldest months are December, January and February. The Valley experiences heavy snow fall and students need warm clothing including sweaters and blankets. Hot water is provided to both Boys and Girls Hostels and safe heating arrangements are made during winter. Since the Educational Institutions, including Colleges of Education remain closed in the Valley in Winter, students have to brave the chill only for a few days of December which is tolerable as the intensity begins from mid December. |
| Mode of Teaching: |
The Micro and Macro practice of teaching begins in the month of September. Students are deputed to various High & Middle Schools and work under the guidance of Faculty Members and the Headmasters concerned where they have to deliver 30 Lessons (15 in each teaching subject). Students are required to prepare Lesson Plans, Micro Teaching Files and Internship Files The Final Practice of Teaching is supervised by the Experts appointed by the University who allot the external assessment marks. Many tests and assignments are given to the students during the academic session to sharpen their ability on both theoretical and practical fronts. The Annual Examination is conducted exclusively by the University at the Centres fixed by University authorities in the month of April- May. |
| Result: |
The result is brought out by the University in the month of September or October. The result is made available in the Colleges, on Websites (www.bedcolleges-kashmiruniversity.org / www.kashmiruniversity.net ) and in the University itself.
OTHER PROGRAMMES Many programmes like debates, competitions, discussions and seminars etc. are held in the College.Inter-college tournaments are held. Cultural Programmes are organized to make students understand the diverse cultures and customs of the country. The students are taken for Picnic to the places of their choice twice during one session. |
