About the Founder
 Prof. Syed Qasim
Kazmi (20th January 1945-
4th February 2009)
Syed Qasim was bron in a reputed Muslim family. His father Syed
Murtaza Shah was a renowned Craftsman of valley. Syed Qasim was
educated in S.P Higher Secondary, S.P College and University of
Kashmir . he was well educated person in our family/ society. he has
been serving education department as a chemistry professor , Teacher
Trainer, Principal and an academician. He has left indelible
impressions wherever he worked.
Syed Qasim Kazmi has worked on some latest
conceptions on Education, Such as :
Organized a number of workshops , seminars &
Orientation Programs st state level.
Worked AS Principal S.P Higher Secondary,
Srinagar and improved the overall functioning to make it one of the
leading schools of the state.
He was instrumental in reviving the glory of S.P.
Higher Secondary School.
He has been writing on different themes of
education in different papers, magazines and books. he has number of
publications in his name.
Syed Qasim was one of the senior most and well
known academician of the Education Department in J&K state. He was
extremely concerned about the lack of understanding of Adolescent
youth , their needs , dreams and desires.

The College has been
granted permission by J&K state Govt. vide Government order No.
143 /HE of 2007, Dated 19/07/2007 and is affiliated to the
University of Kashmir
(NAAC Accredited Grade “A”)
Vide affiliation letter No.
F(Affiliation-Lakecity)Acad/KU/07 dated 23-08-2007
for imparting instructions in the B.Ed programme.

Academic Complex

Location:
The College is located in the backyard of world
famous Shalimar garder. the College is located at a distance of
about 15 Kms from TRC(Tourist Reception Centre ) city centre and
about 5Kms from University of Kashmir. The College is accessible by
local Bus and Sumo (Shared Taxi) service.

Infrastructure
The college has a beautiful campus with beautiful Landscape, which
houses Administrative Block, Academic Block and Girls hostel with
blooming lawns.
The campus has most conductive environment of an educational
institution. the college has a Lab-school affiliated to it next door
for imparting practical training to pupil teachers

Library
College has Spacious and well ventilated Library with large
number (around 3000) of books and journals. Most of the educational
journals of National and International (Organizations level are made
available in the library.

Lab
Computer Lab. is fully equiped with adequate number of Computers.
Internet facility is available for both staff and students. Computer
related books are also available for students

Science Laboratory:
Laboratory is equipped with sufficient teaching aids, which
include Maps microscope, slides , science equipments, Globes, charts
and Drawing material

Psychology Lab:
Laboratory is fully equipped with latest Experiments, charts,
scholar's Portraits and text materials.

Audio/ Visual Lab:
AV Lab is equipped with all the latest Gadgets
available in market. LCD projector, Audio Stereo Woofer system, DVD
Player, DVD Handycam, Digital Camera, AV DVD Discs and Journals.
Video Conferencing with other Educational Organizations is made
available via internet

Co-curricular
Activities and Sports
Regular programs for seminar ,
debates, dramas and interactions are conducted to provide
opportunities of participations/expression to all students. sports
facilities are available for all major games. lectures from
educational experts of the state are regularly arranged for the
students in the college.

Hostel
College has a separate boy's hostel outside the campus within walking
distance. The boys hostel can accomodate 250 boys, whereas girls hostel has
capacity of 150. The hostels are calm, clean and have adequate facilities of
bathrooms with hot/cold water and other basic requirements for comfortable
living.
A professional catering company under the supervision of students
manages the hostel mess. Students committee prepares the menus and regularly
supervises the cleanliness and proper
catering of the mess.

Staff:
The college is run by a trust headed
by educated , dedicated and well reputed persons of the society
principal and staff are all highly
qualified and experienced persons selected by the selection
committee under the convenorship of Dean, College Development
Council of Kashmir University.

Lakecity College of Education
was established under the dynamic leadership of renowned academician
and educationist of the state - late Syed Qasim Kazmi with a
purpose to provide quality teacher training education within and
outside state.
in a short span, the college has
been instrumental in building the academic bridge between diverse
communities and culture growth of the society at the large .
I, along with my staff clearly view
our responsibility regarding the standard of quality education and
assure to make our college academically vibrant and nationally
competitive institution of intellectual persuades in view challenges
