GuIzar Memorial College of Education was established in the year 2004 with the soul objective of producing well-trained and dynamic human resource in the field of education who are dedicated enough to meet the new challenges in education like the Globalization of education. The college is affiliated to the University of Kashmir vide letter No. F (Renewal-Affiliate) Acad/KU/07 Dated: August 9, 2007and is recognized by the J&K Government. The College has been granted intake capacity of (180+6+5=) 191 students for the session 2007-08 by the University of Kashmir.

LOCATION:

GMCE is located at Nowpora Kalan, about 1 Km from the famous apple town of Sopore in District Baramulla and 50 Kms away from the University of Kashmir with a completely isolated, calm, quiet and favorable educational environment. The college building is a newly constructed two-storied structure with a decent architecture and state-of-the-art educational infrastructure and other facilities like spacious class rooms, a well decorated common hall, separate toilets for ladies and gents, a beautiful lawn and a playfield spreading to about 12 kanals of land. 

TEACHING STAFF:

We have a well-qualified and well-trained staff whose coordination and consistent efforts and hard work ensured more than 90% result of our first batch of students.

SUBJECTS OFFERED:

Besides four compulsory papers, all the combinations of the elective and teaching subjects as per the university norms are offered by the college.

LIBRARY:

The college library is a specious and well-ventilated hall having dimension 20` X 30` sq. ft area within a building fully computerized, with a collection of more than 3376 textbooks, reference books and the regular subscription of the relevant magazines, journals (5+5) and local and national newspapers. The library also has a reading room and is managed by a well-qualified library professional with a master's degree in Library and Inforn1ation Science (MLIS, PGDIT) from the University of Kashmir.

We have separate hostel facilities with accommodation 15 rooms and 6 rooms for boys and girls respectively at a stone's throw distance from the college campus. The hostels have adequate ward and watch arrangement to ensure maximum security and health and hygiene of the students. The hostels are facilitated with adequate heating facility such as gas heaters, gas geysers, Bukharis , Aqua guard and fire extinguisher for the comfortably of the students.

The College has a well-equipped laboratory with dimension 18`x25`sq.ft.for physical and biological sciences equipped with charts, maps, glass wares, microscope, specimen, test tubes, overhead projector and all necessary science related equipments to facilitate the B.Ed students. A modern computer lab. (25` X 25` sq.ft. area)  with Seven P-IV Computers , laptop , Xerox machine along with generator facility, printing facilities and other audio-visual equipment are present.
