Anantnag
The Rehmat-e-Alam college of education was established in the year 1995 to impart instructions in B-Ed. course and is affiliated to the University of Kashmir. The college is situated at Rehmat-Abaad (Anchidora), Anantnag on the famous Pahalgam road 58 Kms from Kashmir University, Srinagar, spread over 16 Kanals of land, on the bank of the river Lidder, with a congenial academic environment. The most peculiar feature of the college is its magnificent building, fantastic educational campus and the solitude in which the students can achieve their goals with minimum distraction .
In order to ensure the quality education the following cells with definite objectives are functional in the college.
- Internal quality assurance cell
- Grievance cell for the students.
- Counseling cell for Ex-Students.
- Women cell (Gender sensitive issues)
- Guidance and counseling cell for new entrants.
The college is fully equipped with a close circuit T. V system as well.
Medical Aid:
The college has a well established on campus dispensary for the inmates (students and staff). The services of a qualified doctor are made available to the inmates. Proper medical records of the students are maintained for the speedy treatment as and when needed.
Besides four core papers, the college offers five options in paper VII namely Educational Guidance and counseling, Population Education, Measurement and Evaluation, School Management, Environmental Education and Computer Education
Hostel with hot water facilities, is available separately for boys and girls.
Two Hostel buildings for boys with an accommodation for 255 students and one separate Hostel for 75 girls students is available on the college campus itself.
In
addition to the above, this college offers a very tempting programme of
co-curricular activities as well.
The
institution has a rich semi-automated library with more than 7,000 books
comprising text books, reference books, encyclopedias etc. The institution is
also subscribing the reputed national and international, journals, magazines,
newspapers etc. And the back files ofall the periodicals are available in the
library.
Computer Lab.
In order
to keep the students and teachers abreast with the information technology, a
well equipped computer lab with 15 latest systems, is available. Besides having
an. internet facility the institution has provision for providing basic
orientation course in computer education, in addition to one of the options in
paper VII.
Educational Technology Lab:
The institution has a well equipped Educational technology lab comprising OHP , Epidiascope, TV , CD player, Tape Recorder, CDs of educational films etc. The lab is also having sufficient seating arrangements for practical purposes/demonstrations.
Workshop for the preparation of T. Aids: The institution has a workshop where the teacher trainees are given practical exposure for preparing teaching aids like models, maps, charts, pictures, slides, film strips etc. The best ones prepared by the students are preserved and displayed in the museum for the use of teacher trainees as and when needed.
Science
lab: The institution has a well established science lab with all the
necessary equipments with highly sophisticated arrangements for practicaVs.
Psychology lab: The college has a well established psychology lab equipped with modern psychological instruments and test tools.
Language lab: The institution possesses a well equipped language lab with all the necessary equipments. Extra-curricular activities:
The institution provides the facilities for most of the indoor and outdoor games. Moreover, the students are facilitated for hiking especially to the Amar Nath Cave.
Scholarships:
As routine, merit-cum-poverty scholarships are given to the 10% of the total students {local and non- local), who are economically week meritorious and physically handicapped.
Transport Facility: The college offers transport facilities to the students and staff on concession rates.
E. T .T Program: The institution is likely to start E. T .T {Elementary teacher training) Program approved by the State Board of School Education. The college has all the necessary infrastructure available for the said program.
